White Sands Crash

May 14, 2016 three friends set out from Austin, TX to White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. In the name of art. The trip was picture perfect. Wild wind gusts in Lincoln National Forest, Big Apple Barn just around the corner & sand dunes on the horizon.  As they approached the park the sun was kissing the mountains to the west. They painted their faces and covered their bodies with glitter. It was almost sunset. The camera was ready. *click* *snap* *shoot* giggles and full belly laughs where had. What a beautiful evening. As they drove back to the cabin for the night the sky began to glow in pastel shades. The stars came alive & the moon glowed. The trip continued and the girls grew closer.

The last morning before headed home they decided to take a different route to find some aliens! To Roswell, NM they headed.  The weather took a turn and the temperature dropped. It was no longer warm sunny sky's for dark gloomy rain clouds took over. Area 51 was too desirable to pass up because of crummy weather.  As they walked into the run down kid stick museum a burst of energy rushed over them. This was something to remember! ALIENS!! Aliens on the ceiling, aliens barbecuing with friends, Aliens in an outhouse could you ask for anything more??

Back in the car! With only 10 hours to go, things where calming down and the girls where getting comfortable. The clouds where parting and the sun was peeking it's head out once again.  Six hours in with only four more to go it was approximately 4:40pm when they where driving down a back country two lane highway in Nolan county. Sky's where clear the road was open. They all watched as Silver Ford F150 rolled up to a stop sign on the edge of the highway. The truck didn't even pause as it pulled onto the highway making a left hand turn right in front of their little Yaris. The Yaris peddling hard at a speed of 75 mph had no time to stop. They swerved to try and avoid the truck but there was no avoiding the massive ton of steal what stood in front of them. *CRUNCH* They t-boned right into the side of the truck. The Yaris began spinning out of control. By an act unknown to use the Yaris was stopped before it had a chance to flip. We where said to have slammed into the a farmers fence post, yet they never remember seeing anything but open fields. They three jumped out of the car as quickly as possible for the engine had began to smoke. Witnesses ran out of their cars to give assistance. As the EMT's arrived the girls tried to stay calm.

Everyone was alive.

Everything in that moment was in shambles.

Two Weeks Later..

Another 4 weeks of recovery to go. The bruises have begun to heal and bones are now mending. The ringing in the head has past. Clear thoughts are starting to come.

In a few short weeks all three girls and the little dog will be healed & ready for rehabilitation.  The little Yaris was not so lucky.

The salon is to remain closed till July 1st, 2016
